Get ready folks; 2018 promises us a wild ride. With a bevy of innovative, sharp designs along with ultra ground-breaking concept cars – this might be the year you have to buy your next new vehicle. If you’re serious about getting a new car soon, you may want to check out a car loan calculator.
SUVs
SUVs are hot, hot, hot. You may want to sit down for this. I present for your enjoyment and wonder, the Jaguar I Pace Electric SUV. Car and Driver calls it “a car worth waiting for” and friends, the wait is almost over. This crossover is everything we’ve dreamed of; it does not disappoint.
They say further, “Mind you, there’s nothing too radical about Jaguar producing a crossover…What’s radical about the I-Pace is that it’s a pure-electric vehicle based on a new platform. Furthermore, it’s one of the first electrics to take full advantage of an electric car’s packaging to rethink vehicle proportions.” Sign us up!
Cars
Things are heating up in the sedan and coupe category, too. Again, we look to the car gods at Car and Driver to show us the way. “The Kia Stinger is a little ballsy, from its cartoonish name to the swagger in its styling to the hatchback body to the rear-drive platform. So is the market mission, which seems such a stark disconnect from the cheap-and-chipper Kia defined by its runaway best-seller, the Soul.”
The Stinger didn’t just create a buzz with Car and Driver. It’s on all the “top” lists – KBB, Motor Trend, US News and World Report, Popular Mechanics… I could go on, but I have lots of looming deadlines. Some car enthusiasts in their comments on these sites are quick to point out that, “it’s still just a Kia.” Come on guys – let someone evolve. We’re not holding your thick glasses and acned brace-face from high school against you.
Trucks
Now, let’s talk trucks. In the land of working vehicles, Lord Ford reigns supreme with the F-150 sitting comfortably on the throne. Are other car manufacturers intimidated by its popularity and over-all market domination? Because I have to be honest, it seems as though they’ve given up the fight. They’re not even trying to take on the king. It’s probably wise. Don’t agree? Read this from the experts at Popular Mechanics:
“The F-150 is the single most important product Ford makes. It’s been the best-selling vehicle in America since 1977, so even a mild facelift is a big deal. Every version of the 2018 F-150 has a new grill, headlamp cluster and bumper. The new design borrows a bit from the Super Duty’s, and that’s not a bad thing.
Beyond the nip and tuck, the biggest news is the addition of a Ford-designed 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6. Ford isn’t ready to unleash the specs on this motor quite yet, but it will be mated to Ford’s 10-speed automatic (co-developed by GM) and should deliver more than the 240 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque in Ram’s Ecodiesel.”
The List
So, we hope you enjoyed the highlights. Here’s the complete “top” list:
